Plot[]

Hank meets Alvin at a diner, sharing information he got regarding the Kevin Bingham investigation. Apparently, Woods and the prosecution is using a witness named Ruben Gilbright, a known junkie, in their investigation. Alvin quickly recognizes him as the man he caught trying to break into his car the night he and Erin moved the body. Alvin tells Voight he will handle Ruben by catching him dirty, but Voight assures him that he got it.

Meanwhile, Ruzek meets up with an informant of his, Ray, but things get out of hand when Ray pulls a gun on Ruzek and tries to make a scene. Adam is shocked and confused but later realizes that Ray was trying to hide his identity by making a scene as there were known gangbangers watching them. Kevin, who was nearby as his backup, is furious, and the two partners later confront Ray. Ray explains the situation, reminding them that he knows what he is doing as he is a cop. Kevin reminds him that he used to be one. They all decide to let the incident go and move on, focusing their attention on the rips on the stash houses. Adam asks Ray if he has any information regarding the case they are investigating, but Ray says he needs more money to get the information. Kevin is hesitant, but Adam decides to pay Ray his last advance. Kevin later tells Adam that what happened to Ray is not his fault and he should let it go. They get interrupted by shots fired nearby call. When they get to the location, they find 2 bodies in an apartment. They hear sounds of distress and check the other rooms finding a grieving mother holding a young boy. The young boy is shot in the head, and Adam tries to save him, but it’s too late.

When the rest of the team arrives at the crime scene, Kevin and Adam update Voight on the situation. The crime scene is similar to the other 2 stash house rips. The 2 bodies they found belong to a local gang. At the scene, they find a couple of bricks of heroin with cobra labels. Hailey tells Voight how the bullet that killed the little boy went through the door first, meaning he was just collateral damage. While checking out the crime scene, Antonio meets an old friend Sergeant Marino. His team from Narcotics had been working on the case but was willing to give Intelligence the lead. Detective Rachel Rojas, who is part of Sergeant Marino’s team, overhears them and is furious to hear Intelligence is taking over the case. Hailey and Kim talk to the little boy’s mother, Sarah Montero, asking if she saw anything. Sarah tells them that Felix Montero wasn’t feeling well and had gone to take a nap on the couch while she went to shower. When she heard the shooting, she checked on him and found him shot. She tells them that she saw 2 young Latino men climb down the fire escape after the shooting, wearing ski masks.

Back at the district, after discussing the facts of the case, Voight tells the team to talk to their CIs and to put money on the streets. While the rest of the team head out to investigate, Olinksy talks to Voight about Ruben. He tells Voight that Ruben hangs out at a halfway house in Pilsen. Seeing Al is getting too close to this, Voight tells him to back off as it’s too risky for Woods to find out what Al is doing. He again assures Alvin that he will handle it. Voight tracks down Ruben and sees him handing something to another man in an alleyway. Once Ruben leaves, Voight corners the man and searches him, finding money on him. He asks the man what the money is for, as he thinks Ruben bought drugs. The man tells Voight that Ruben had just lent him money because he was broke. Voight eventually lets him go, telling the man to forget this confrontation ever happened.

Kevin and Adam head over to Ray’s apartment to ask if he got any information regarding the case. Ray tells them he will start looking into it but will need some extra cash first. Adam is frustrated and stands his ground, telling Ray to deliver information first. Meanwhile, Al goes to the Chicago Police Department’s Pension Office.

Later, Adam tells the team that he has intel from his CI about 2 Hispanic drug dealers moving products with cobra labels out of a vacant house. They hit the house and find 2 Hispanic men and 2 bricks of heroin matching the cobra labels. Adam and Kevin interrogate one of the men found at the house, while Jay and Kim interrogate the other. They claim to not know that the drugs were there as they were just squatting at the house. They don’t get anything from the interrogation, as the two men claim to be drinking beer at the abandoned house during the shooting. Hailey checks into their alibi and finds it accurate as the men were found on security footage buying beer 3 minutes before the shooting, proving that they were not the guys responsible. Antonio asks Adam who gave him the information as it was unreliable. Adam, frustrated, confronts Ray, asking if he is playing some game. Ray tries to explain that he got the information from a junkie, and Adam is displeased, telling Ray that he put him in a bad spot with his team. Ray reminds Adam that he is a CI now because Adam couldn’t be loyal. He tells Adam that his actions caused Ray to lose his job and reputation. Adam decides to cut Ray loose and ends the CI agreement, but Ray apologizes and promises to give reliable information in the future.

Meanwhile, Voight follows Ruben and finds him at an AA meeting. He hears him talk to the other addicts about his addiction and how he wants to continue his sobriety so he can be a good father to his daughter. After hearing this, Voight realizes that Ruben has turned his life around, which creates a block in his plan to make Ruben uncredible. The team comes to a dead end again, unable to find the connection between the 3 rips. After talking to a friend, Hailey tells the team how Marino’s Narcotics team had issued search warrants for each stash house. Somehow, the rips occurred right before the stash house could be searched. This leads them to realize that there is a dirty cop on Marino’s team. Voight and Antonio meet up with Sergeant Marino from Narcotics and tell him about the dirty cop. They don’t know who it is, but they need his help identifying the cop. They ask Marino to set up a fake stash house and tell his team that there are drugs there, so they need an emergency warrant. If the rip crew arrives at the stash house, they can know that there definitely is a dirty cop on the team.

Marino agrees, and Intelligence sets up at the stash house, waiting for the rip crew to arrive. While waiting, Voight updates Olinksy on the Ruben situation, telling him that they won’t be able to find Ruben dirty as he has been sober for the past year. Al wants to be creative, but Voight tells him to back off Ruben and that they will find another way out. The rip crew arrives and breaks into the “fake” stash house. Hailey, Jay, Adam, and Kevin corner them and shoot both, killing one and injuring the other. Back at the district, the team confirms that the two men shot at the stash house are the men responsible for all the other stash house rips and the death of Felix Montero. After checking cell phone and email records, they are able to identify the dirty cop as Detective Rachel Rojas from Marino’s team. Antonio and Voight confront her, and she denies all the accusations. The team doesn’t have enough to arrest her, so they keep digging into her. Jay and Hailey return from the hospital, informing the team that the other offender from the stash house didn’t make it. After digging into the offenders, they track down a cousin of one of the offenders who have previous drug charges. When they go to his place to arrest him, they find him getting rid of drugs. He doesn’t give them much information other than knowing that it’s a dirty cop leaking the information. He tells them that they meet at a bar. Adam and Kevin head over to the bar to check the security footage. While reviewing the footage, they are surprised to see Adam’s CI Ray talking to the offenders.

Voight and Antonio talk to Detective Rojas again, asking if she knows how Ray got his hands on the information. Rojas tells them she has no idea and only uses Ray as a CI. She soon realizes that Ray has been playing her and tells Voight and Antonio how she had let Ray stay at her place for a few days. Ray must have stolen Rojas’ CPD database login and password to find information regarding the stash houses. Adam and Kevin head over to Ray’s apartment and find his girlfriend Crystal instead. They ask her where he is, and she has no idea. Tired of all the lies, Adam decides to bring Crystal in, but she tells them that Ray has a boat in a boatyard in Chinatown.

Adam and Kevin go check it out and find Ray’s truck there. Voight tells them to wait, but they see Ray and move in. Ray runs and hides, and Kevin and Adam go search the entire boatyard. Ray surprises Kevin and hits him in the back, but before he can run, Adam corners him. Ray pleads with Adam to let him go and that they can call it even, but Adam keeps reminding him that an innocent young boy died because of his crimes. Ray, realizing that Adam isn’t going to let him go, decides to play with Adam and puts his hands behind his back, claiming to have a gun. Adam is placed in a tough situation and tells Ray to raise his hands. Eventually, Kevin knocks Ray off his feet, and Adam arrests him but realizes that Ray never had a gun.

Back at the District, Trudy confronts Voight and asks why Alvin’s pension got flagged. Voight tells her that he can’t tell her anything and Trudy leaves disappointed. Later Ruben is arrested because they find drugs in his car. Ruben tells the Narcotics detectives that it isn’t his and Alvin watches as the arrest happens from afar. Voight meets Alvin for a drink and tells him how Ruben was arrested for carrying drugs. Alvin plays it off as Ruben’s fault, but Voight knows what Alvin did and tells him that it’s hard to outrun your demons.
